As with many construction materials and methods, the available products
are diverse. Each product has unique advantages. This course provides
an overview of these products.
Cover Types: The types of aluminum expansion joint covers can basically
be grouped as:
Surface mounted
Recessed/block out preparation
Each of these basic types uses either an overlap system or elastic strip
to allow for both horizontal and vertical movement of the structure(s).
There is a wide range of attachment methods to choose from including mechanically
fastened systems and adhesive fastening. Fasteners may either be exposed
or concealed.
Options for fire, water, and soundproofing are offered for each type of
cover. |
