Product Declarations for LEED v4 (Product Declarations)
Presented By: Tara Blank, Ph.D., founder of Elixir Environmental
Building products are a significant driver of success in LEED projects, although clear guidance for the manufacturing industry is often hard to come by. Manufacturers are also keenly aware of the potential for backlash from “greenwashing”, or even if their sustainability message doesn’t precisely articulate the environmental benefits using the right terminology. Join us for this 1 hour course to explore the role of successful product manufacturers in the LEED process, and discover some simple steps that can be taken immediately to heighten designer awareness of how your product can contribute. We conclude with a look ahead to see where the market is headed with respect to product sustainability, and highlight opportunities to increase the LEED applicability of your product offerings.
Building product manufacturers have several new opportunities to get specified by contributing more points under LEED v4. This one hour presentation explores the product declarations used in LEED v4 and the transparency tools that product manufacturers need to maximize their specification efforts. The presentation will discuss how LEED v4 rewards product transparency, the Health Product Declaration (HPD), LifeCycle Assessment (LCA), and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
