In this one-hour course, we will discover the strengths and advantages of FEVE fluoropolymer topcoats for curtain walls, windows, and other architectural elements, as well as maintenance re-coating of existing finishes. We will evaluate the lifetime effects of weathering on different coatings and review coating performance tests including accelerated weathering and real-time weathering. We will also assess the life-cycle cost advantages and sustainability benefits of FEVE topcoats despite their higher initial cost compared to other topcoat formulations.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Discuss the differences between Conventional and High Performance FEVE coating technology, as well as considerations when selecting a coating system, and the application and performance characteristics of FEVE coating systems.
  2. Discuss real-time and accelerated testing of FEVE coatings that demonstrate their proven performance in terms of corrosion resistance, and color/gloss retention over long periods of time.
  3. Quantify cost and environmental considerations of FEVE coatings regarding life-cycle and the LEED v4 rating system.
  4. Review real-world applications and proper specification guidelines.
