Accessibility Disconnects in Toilet Room Design

This course will inform design professionals about the accessible elements of a multi-user toilet room. Designers will learn about toilet room compliance with applicable accessibility codes and regulations. Appropriate materials for toilet room use and issues related to usability, abuse, warranty and LEED and how this can improve occupant comfort, health, and ease of use will be reviewed.

  2. Explain the role of ADA in accessible design
  3. Identify and analyze accessible elements of a multi-user washroom to determine compliance with applicable accessibility codes, regulations, and guidelines
  4. Examine accessible components and describe typical design and installation disconnects
  5. Review fixture placement
  6. Identify material types appropriate for washroom use and issues related to usability, abuse, warranty, and LEED
