Selecting the Optimal Floor Finish for Hygiene Critical Environments

In this one hour live course we will discuss Hygiene Critical Environments; what they are, where they’re found, and how to select a floor finish that will perform under the conditions that exist therein. Floor Finishes in Hygiene Critical Environments must be durable, non-absorbent, slip resistant, easily cleanable, with high flexural properties as well as compressive strength. In some applications floor finishes should be electrostatic dissipative so as to avoid unpredictable failures of sensitive electrical equipment. Non seamless, and/or porous systems can provide a breeding ground for pathogens and microbes, offering a myriad of opportunities for nosocomial contamination, so excellent chemical stability is crucial due to the repeated cleaning and disinfecting cycles that are necessary in hygiene critical environments. As a Designer of Hygiene Critical Environments, this course is intended to serve as a guide when designing these sensitive spaces and aide in your materials selection and specification process.
